Innovation and Excellence

Albert Einstein wrote "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Or it might have been Ben Franklin. Or an author named Rita Mae Brown, who wrote a very funny book about lesbians. Wow. I've derailed my own thread, and only 2 sentences in; that's not easy to do.

Anyway.....Is attempting the same task in a totally unique way each and every time you try it also insanity? Dunno. But that is what my esteemed comic partner is seemingly shooting for. After a dozen comics, we could finally say we've gotten into a rhythm. So do we knock the comic out by midnight and get some well deserved rest? Noooooo. Let's do a comic homage to Frank Miller. Sleep is apparently overrated.

Seriously, I'd like to sing the praises of the 1/2 dozen Korean wage-slave animators collectively known as "Sayid". This comic really rocked. In fact it was so good, that I wanted to remove my snarky dialog completely. He resisted, out of compassion I think. Oddly enough, I get most (all?) the praise for the comic, because I'm on earlier, and more regularly. But as my mother noted this weekend: "You write a comic? Aren't comics more drawing than writing?" (Yes mommy, thank you for pointing out that I now have a second hobby even less useful to society than playing a video game all day. Seriously I heal the sick and poor for a living, shouldn't that be enough?) But Sayid really is THE KEY to this whole endeavor. Otherwise this comic would be called, and look like the Adventures of The Badly Drawn Stick-People.

On a more soap-boxy note (you knew it was coming, admit it), I'd say that the best things about this comic are that 1) Sayid and I talk to each other every single day, in one form or another, 2) it's hugely entertaining to the two of us, and your enjoyment is a side-effect, and 3) by combining our skills we're producing something of much higher quality and consistency than either of us dreamed of. There must be some type of corp-related moral to that surely.

Oh, and in case we haven't made it clear, we think Lil kicks ass!

At least this week we have moved away from your strange fetish. But like they say in London, it don't make much sense. Although they probably say that in alot of other places as well. Who's cares, you still got your butts whipped by a girly.

Hmm. I can see where you might be confused, and Oro said this might happen. I bear full responsibility since I said, "They're not idiots, Oro. They can tell that the two guys are NOT supposed to be you and me even though one has spiky hair and the other is so clearly muscular and strong." Apparently I was wrong.

For the record, the two dudes are not Sayid and Oro, even though they do bear faint resemblance to them. They are merely fodder for the force which is Lilith to consume. Any likeness to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Guys,

Well done on another great comic. I first owe you an apology Sayid. Yesterday when I first looked at this comic the shadows didnt load, they were all white, and I was not particularly impressed. This morning I can see the comic as you intended it to be viewed and I like it a lot, not that my like or dislike are particularly important.

I also like the subject matter of the comic, now everybody knows I am Lilith's number one fan, but for a change I am not talking about her uncanny ability to read aloud Tractors Weekly on Vent and make it sound sexy. I am talking about Lilith the character.

Of all our members Lilith is one of the few younger players than me that has impressed me with the skill and knowledge that she displays. Lilith oozes confidence and has earned our respect as a player.

I remember when she first joined she was very much an enigma, Lilith rarely talked in corp. In fact Lilith rarely even looked at the corp channel, often I would say hi to her and wait 15 or 20 mins for her to respond by apologising that she was on a different channel.

I feel that in the last 4 or 5 months Lilith has really started to come into her own. She takes part in every corp op, even if her time keeping could be better :-), she has started producing rigs, and she has learnt a lot about the game mechanics.

Lilith always offeres advice to corp members and is willing to research answers to questions without even being asked. She has put together a drake who's tank I can not break even with my Raven using Torps and T2 drones.

Lilith has also learned how to PvP, she probably has more experience in this field than any other corp member and she certainly has a better PvP record of ship kills vs ship losses.

So, what makes Lilith so good at Eve? By her own admission this is her first MMORPG, and even if it wasn't Eve is so different that any skills she had from other games would be irrelevant. I think what makes Lilith so good, is that she doesn't have an ego. A lot of the time, and I include myself in this, the rest of us are too proud to either ask for help or to take advice/ constructive critisism.

IMHO it is Lil's lack of ego that frees her to learn from her mistakes and from the mistakes of others. It also frees her to ask for help when she can't find something out on her own. I think that she has become a formidable player, and without doubt she is an enormous asset to ACU, perhaps we can all take a leaf out of her book, and improve ourselves.

Finally, you all have to admit she makes a damn Sexy Little Pirate :-)
